Northern lights

It's probably not fair to comment on either since I've been slack as, but I've been far more taken with the Festival than the Fringe this year. The lovely Persian Garden and Northern Lights display felt more of an event, and made me exponentially more fond of this cute little city I live in, whereas my Fringe experiences typically left me hot and grumpy and pissed off at carnies.

Anyway, check out these snaps of the Northern Lights display: colourful designs projected onto the gorgeous old facades on North Terrace. Lurid and surreal, they gave off this eerie altered sense of reality and highlighted architectural details I would have missed otherwise:

I would have liked studying at the Con more if Elder Hall permanently looked like a rainbow on acid. It would have been all peace, love, and Bootsy Collins as guest lecturer:

There were lots of designs but my favourites made it looked like the buildings had been drawn by hand onto the surrounds and it felt like you were walking through a giant cartoon landscape:

Oh god they're amazing! My Mum was raving about it, but I didn't expect ANYTHING like THAT. wow.

wow.

Trust me to leave just as adelaide finally gets hip. Hey, how cool would it be if it was like that all the time? I think that could be just what Adelaide needs to liven itself up and get people OUT of the house in the eveings.

I'm just in the coolest little cafe...it's got lots of bright colours and those eames wire chairs and the waiter looks jamaican (he's french) and the toilet has a sandpit and it's all cool 60s music but redone in smooth frenchyness...youl would love it.

Would be great to have them all the time but I think it's expensive. The state government is paying for it to be extended another 2 weeks which is costing them $75k!

Cafe sounds cool, show us pictures! But why is there a sandpit in the toilets? Is it like a litterbox?

(ew)
